Karen Bremmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
Karen Bremmer (nee Kolb) age 68 of Lockport, Il, beloved mother, grandmother, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 2nd, surrounded by loved ones. A beautiful woman of Christian faith, Karen lived a life of kindness, creativity, and quiet strength. Her joys were simple but essential: gardening, cooking, creating beauty, and sitting in her backyard with her dog, Leo. She brought warmth and beauty into the lives of others through her generosity, humor, and many talents, including making and sharing her famous Rice Krispie treats.

Throughout her vibrant career, Karen found ways to bring her some of her many gifts to light as a talented graphic designer and later, a floral designer. She went on to become a paraeducator at Joliet Township High School where she worked for over 20 years serving students and young adults in the special needs community. Upon her retirement, she left a legacy of kindness and compassion to all she had touched.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Cullen) Luth (Michael) and Lauren (Cullen) Bloom (Michael), and her cherished grandsons, Michael Luth Jr. and Matthew Luth. She is also survived by her devoted and loving partner, Ron Janovsky. Karen is now reunited in Heaven with her parents William and Marcella, brother Randy, husband Billy Bremmer and a host of loved ones who no doubt greeted her with open arms.

Karen's spirit lives on in every act of kindness, every home-cooked meal, and every person who ever laughed at one of her quick but quiet one-liners. Rest well, Mom. Heaven's garden just got a lot more beautiful.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday August 16th, 2025 Calvary Church, 1375 State St., Lemont, Il 60439.

Our family has become smaller here on earth and larger in Heaven. I'm sure there is a big homecoming celebration from all those that you had made friends and gone before you and hope to join you and see all that Kolb clan when my time comes. Will always remember your warm smile and hospitality, as a child you showing me your collection of miniature plastic horses in your room, then going in your driveway by the garage and shooting basketball hoops playing H-O-R-S-E. Those childhood days. We send our love Keith and Ilona Kolb in Colorado Springs CO.

I met Karen at work. We formed a strong bond that was cemented during Covid. She said I was her person,. I hope she knew she was mine. So many laughs and deep discussions. Rest well my friend. Until we meet again,
Nancy

I used to hang around with your Mom before and just after u girls were born. She was a lovely person and a joyful friend. She was so in love with u girls. A very very proud Mom. God blessed her by giving u both to her here on earth and has welcomed her home with him now. Take care of each other always.

So very very sorry to hear of Karen passing. I worked with her for 2o+ years and considered her a friend. After we both retired and I moved away we lost touch sadly. She loved her daughters and grandchildren fiercely and always talked of them. She was very talented and caring. Rest in the arms of Jesus Karen until we meet again.
