Karen K. Hilton, 90, of Portage, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at home. She was born March 28, 1935, in Woden, Iowa, to Raymond W. and Geneva I. (Delperdang) Kollasch.
Karen is survived by her children, Linda Potter of Valparaiso, Laura (Phil) Lute of Valparaiso, Dianne Hilton of Portage, Michael (Bonnie) Hilton of Naperville, Illinois, and Cynthia Henderson of Michigan City; her daughter-in-law. Cheryl L. Hilton of Evanston, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; her brothers, Keith Kollasch, Thomas Kollasch of Logansport, Indiana, and Raymond Kollasch of Gary; and her sisters, Rosalee Snyder of Crown Point, and Mary Emery of Wanatah. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Steven and James Hilton; her grandson, Steven Hilton; and her brothers, William, Richard and Kenneth.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage. Karen retired from the International Laborers Union #81 in Valparaiso as a secretary after many years of service there.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 17th, at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage. The Rev. Kevin McCarthy will be presiding. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation for Karen will be from 3 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, at Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. www.bartholomewnewhard.com.
