Karen Ann Schack, née Davis, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on July 8, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, mere streets away from the home she grew up on. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roper Davis, Jr. and Albina Davis and nephew Brent Davis.

Karen was born in Norfolk on April 25, 1948. She eventually settled in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake and remained there for more than 20 years before finding her way back to her roots in Norfolk.

A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, she loved singing along to Take Me Out To The Ball Game with Harry Caray. She was beyond thrilled when she was finally able to meet him. She loved traveling with her daughter, especially to Disney World, where they shared many amazing memories. She also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, playing bingo with her mother, watching Jeopardy, and Everybody Loves Raymond never failed to make her laugh.

She graduated from Norview High School where she played the clarinet in the school marching band. She had several jobs including postal worker and mirror and glass company owner, but her favorite was working as a bookkeeper for a construction company.

She is survived by her daughter, Krystina Schack, and her grandson, Killian Schack, who were her whole world. She was especially proud of her grandson's knowledge of geography and never passed up an opportunity to brag about him.

Also surviving are her brothers, Roper Davis III and his wife Joan of Palm Bay, FL, Michael Davis and his wife Adele of Merritt Island, FL; and her sister, Barbara Stott of Chesapeake, VA. She also leaves behind nephews Chris Davis, Matthew Davis, and nieces Sara McArthur and Jennifer Martin and numerous other relatives.

Although she will be deeply missed by family and friends, she will be remembered for her generosity, strength, tenacity, and devotion, and her warmth, spirit, and love will be felt for all eternity.

A memorial service will be held on August 1, 2025 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations beginning at 1pm. In leiu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or and animal shelter of your choice.
