Karen Denise Schrik, 69, of Rogers passed away on June 30 at Mercy Hospital peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born October 29, 1955 in Bad Axe, Michigan to John L. Boyte and Dixie Lee Butler.
Karen was a longtime resident of Northwest Arkansas, but had also lived in multiple cities in the US and traveled the world with her best friends. She found enjoyment in road trips and vacations with her family, as well as antique finds.
Early in her career, she worked for material suppliers in the clothing and candy industries. She later founded "Frisco Kids," one of the first magazines in NWA to help parents navigate raising kids, using one of the first Apple computers. She spent the last 30 years of her career as a custom home builder and remodeling contractor, setting a testament to her desire for equality among all people.
She lived her life for her children and friends more than anything else. Her laugh was contagious, and her smile brightened every room. She was a best friend to many, including family members.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, John "Jack" Boyte Jr.
Survivors include her father (stepmother, Jo); children: Veronica Mann (Chris) of Pea Ridge, Joey Schrik of Rogers, Christy Cotton (Jeremiah) of Rogers, and Ben Schrik of San Diego, CA; brother, Jeff Boyte (Tiffany) of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Heather Hummel of Neosho, MO; six Grandchildren, Kayla, Katie, Luke, Jonah, Hannah, and Harper. Former stepmother and friend, Connie Prophet (Wayne) of Avoca, AR. In addition to a significant number of family members and friends.
A funeral service for Karen will be Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 10:30am at Hunt Chapel 5930 S Wallis Rd. A celebration of life will be from 5:00-7:30 pm at 8412 Morter Drive, Rogers, AR. Internment at a later date at Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville, TN. Memorials may be made to PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org.
