Karen Sue Skirvin, 75, a lifelong Martinsville resident, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis. Karen's life began on Monday, July 25th, 1949, in Martinsville, Indiana when she was born to the late Leon and Joan (Richardson) Skaggs.

She retired from the Martinsville School District where she had worked as a custodian for 20 plus years, working for both South Elementary and North School. Karen enjoyed garage sales, watching QVC and the Food Network, spending time outdoors feeding wildlife, time shared with her dogs, and she had a love for McDonalds coffee, referring to it as "The Good Stuff". Her greatest joy was the time she shared with her family and watching her granddaughter, Alex, play softball.

She leaves behind a host of loving family, including her husband, Terry L. Skirvin of Martinsville, whom she married on February 16th, 1980; one daughter, Jenny Skirvin of Martinsville; grandchildren, Alex and Emma Skirvin; sister, Barb Vinson (husband, Jim) of North Vernon, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that lovingly referred to her as Aunt Haggy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Leon Skirvin; brother, Michael "Mick" Skaggs and sisters, Brenda Hutchison and Donna Davis.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 21st, 2025, from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Karen's life will begin immediately following the visitation at 2:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to her family for her granddaughters' future and education. Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.nealandsummers.com.
