Funeral services for Mr. Karl Guyton, of
Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12 PM, at the William Grove Baptist Church, 104 West Mary Street in Dublin.
Karl Guyton was born on Saturday, January 19, 1963, in
Dublin, Georgia, to Mr. Lester Guyton and the late Mrs. Mae Ethel Blue Guyton. Raised in a strong Christian household and surrounded by a village of love and faith, Karl's early years were shaped by the guidance of his devoted mother and, later, his beloved grandmother, Mrs. Mary Louise Blue. He was a proud member of the former Faith Temple COGIC, where his foundation in faith took root.
A 1981 graduate of Dublin High School, Karl pursued higher education with focus and ambition. He went on to attend Georgia Southwestern College, where he earned a dual degree in finance and horticulture-proof of his curious mind and his commitment to expanding both knowledge and skill. Education wasn't just a phase for Karl; it was a value he carried into every part of his life.
While at Georgia Southwestern, Karl's sense of brotherhood and excellence led him to pledge Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. On May 27, 1982, he became one of the proud charter members of the fraternity's first line, known as "the 8IUK". His commitment to Kappa never wavered. He upheld the fraternity's principles of achievement in every field of human endeavor and maintained lifelong connections with his brothers in the bond.
Professionally, Karl was a master craftsman and the proud owner of Guyton Construction. His expertise in concrete work was matched only by his determination to deliver excellence on every job. He was known to spend long hours meticulously studying blueprints, pouring over details until they were just right. His projects stood as a testament to his dedication, talent, and pride in a job well done.
Karl was not just a hardworking man-he was also a warm and gracious host. His home was often filled with laughter, good food, and the company of friends and family. Whether it was a gathering around the domino table with his Pine Street crew or a backyard cookout, Karl made people feel welcome. Dominoes weren't just a game to him; they were a ritual of joy, stress relief, and connection.
On Monday, July 10, 2025, Karl was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Ethel Guyton; his maternal grandparents, Mary Louise Blue and Robert Blue; step-grandfather, Rev. E. Love Harris; aunts, Emma Lois James and Larcia Ballard; uncles, George Blue Sr., James C. Blue, Willie Guyton Sr., and Bishop Roger Allen; and sisters-in-law, Lola King, Catherine Annette Reeves, and Patricia Barlow Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 19 years, Monica Guyton; his sons, Karl, Kostner, and Michael Guyton; and his stepson, LaDarius (Kiara) Barner, and his father, Lester Guyton. He is also survived by his aunts, Wanda Allen, Caller Mae Coney, Thelma Haywood, and Louise Blue; uncle, Jimmy (Marilyn) Blue; mother-in-law Henrietta Hall; brothers-in-law, Willie (Joann) Horne Sr., and Charles Reeves; half-siblings, Wanda Clayton, LaShon Bell, Melissa Rozier, Taneka Knight, Anthony Williams, and Ricky Dupree; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Kappa brothers, and lifelong friends.
Karl Guyton lived a life grounded in fellowship, education, brotherhood, and love. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of strength, hospitality, and excellence will continue to inspire all who knew him.
