On Wednesday, September 30, 1953, in Bogalusa, LA, Ella Parker and Oscar Edwards were overjoyed when the Lord blessed them with their beautiful baby girl, Katherine Marie Edwards. She was the only girl with six boys as brothers, making her so special. From her first day to her final, her presence was impactful, kind, sweet and beloved, having such a positive effect on all she knew.

Oscar, her father, served in the United States Navy, while Katherine's mother, Ella, remained at home and took care of the family. When Katherine was a teenager, her family moved to Biloxi, MS. She treasured the Gulf Coast as her home and did not want to live any other place. Katherine loved the New Orleans Saints and was a number one, die-hard fan. She had a passion for eating great seafood, especially crawfish and crabs and adored having others to bring food to her. In her own way, she was our "spoiled" Queen, in a good, sweet way. Just seeing all the joy it brought her from receiving such gifts made everyone happy.

Katherine was young at heart and talk about a snazzy dresser! She was what Carl Carlton's song referred to as a "Bad Mama Jama!" When you saw her, the beauty of her lovely black hair, attire and her charming spirit, captivated everyone's attention. She believed in dressing in the finest manner, with an impeccable appearance, never a spot or wrinkle. In keeping with her fashionable flair and vibrant personality, her favorite color was red, a hue as bright and vibrant as she.

Katherine was widely admired for her spark and inspirational spirit, touching the lives of many. Most of all, her gracious, generous heart matched her stride, contributing to making her gorgeous inside and out. She gave until it hurt, recognizing that it is more blessed to give than to receive, often sharing in the midst of her own lack. In the Word of God, He promises to sustain you and she fully trusted God to provide all her needs.

Kathleen was an amazing cook and her dishes were evident of her love for cooking. The melt-in-your-mouth delicious, buttery pound cakes she loved to bake, and those scrumptious, wonderful sweet potato pies will be greatly missed. Katherine enjoyed feeding her family and loved one's, and it showed!

She loved her family wholeheartedly and enjoyed many conversations and happy moments with them. An avid traveler, she often left her home for weeks at a time to go spend time with her children and grandchildren throughout other parts of the United States, including Atlanta and Maryland.

Having been raised in a Christian home herself, Katherine knew the value of living a good, wholesome life pleasing to God, and always worked to ensure that her offspring and theirs would know and adhere to the same principles in life. You would often find her in discussions with her grandchildren in person or by telephone, as she chided them about their lives and decisions, admonishing them to always do what is right, all in love.

Our Mother and Grandmother was spunky and full of fun. She would stick her tongue out at you in jest, just to let you know you were alright with her, and she really cared about you. A jokester at heart, her humor was contagious.

Little Wayne was her favorite artist and the soulful nuances of Teddy Pendergrass made him her favorite R&B singer. She was quite fond of western movies, with "Gunsmoke" heading the top of her list.

Katherine attended school and obtained a degree in Brick Masonry. She was one of the first women to complete the studies and to begin working as a bricklayer in Gulfport, a career she enjoyed for some time. Following that, she processed shrimp at local seafood factories in Biloxi, MS, alongside some of her husband's family. Her final career choice was made, diligently working as a Housekeeper at Keesler Air Force Base, until ultimately celebrating her hard-earned retirement.

Her parents, Oscar Edwards and Ella Parker, former spouse, Kemp Ramsey Jr., known as "Jug," brothers, James Edwards, Oscar Edwards, Ray Charles Edwards, a grandbaby, Heaven Edwards and other relatives preceded Katherine in passing when she left us on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Our hearts have been filled with the joy and pain of love and loss. Katherine is free of sickness and sorrow, and is fully healed in the presence of the Lord. We look to God for comfort and embrace the hope of eternal life through Christ.

"Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you." John 16:22 NKJV

To honor her life and carry on her legacy, she leaves:

Brothers, David Edwards of MI, Fred Edwards of OK and Eddie Jean Edwards of MO.
