Kathi Marie Huff was born on June 24, 1956, in Keosauqua, IA to Jerry and Maxine Hughes Smith. She attended school and graduated from Fox Valley High School with the class of 1974. She went on to further her education in Kirksville, MO before entering the workforce at Mid-States Manufacturing in Milton, IA. Her journey in life brought her to Don Huff and the two began their life together as husband and wife at the Cantril Christian Church. They lived in Ottumwa for a short time after their marriage before returning to Van Buren County and calling Cantril their home. Together they became loving parents to four children: Weston, Corry, Eric, and Katie.
Kathi had a love for baking from an early age and was able to channel that into a career as a baker. She worked at the bakery at the Van Buren County Hospital, Hy-Vee, and at the Village Bakery in downtown Keosauqua before retiring from Laplanders. She was known in Van Buren County for her famous giant cinnamon rolls.
Kathi's true love was her family. She enjoyed every moment that was spent with her children and especially her grandchildren. Kathi never missed an opportunity to cheer on her St. Louis Cardinals and was a lifelong fan of Ozzie Smith and his "back flip". She enjoyed Mickey Mouse memorabilia and would never turn down and ice cold Pepsi. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and the many friends she leaves behind.
Kathi was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Smith.
Left to honor her memory is her mother, Maxine Smith; husband, Don Huff of Cantril, IA; four children, Weston (Danielle) Huff of Bonaparte, IA, Corry (Darci) Huff of Pulaski, IA, Eric Huff of Cantril, IA, and Katie Huff (Bradd Thompson) of Milton, IA; fourteen grandchildren, Landon, Kaylee, Shalyn, Rylon, Paislee, Jeri, Bella, Bentley, Kai, Arli, Deklan, Paje, Bradd II, and Maxx; three siblings, Judi (Don) Davis, Sherri Hardin, and R. L. Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

As a cousin to Don, I knew Kati on visits to their home in Cantril where
my son and I were treated as welcome guests. The hospitality and kindness at the Huff home was without question. Our prayers are with the family.
