Kathleen Mary Reed, born on Saturday, January 6, 1951, in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Pine Prairie, Louisiana. Kathleen, a devoted housewife, dedicated her life to her family and made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Funeral services, including the recitation of the rosary, will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in the Ferguson Cemetery with Deacon Ben Soileau officiating services.
Kathleen was known for her caring and loving personality, always placing the needs of others before her own. She had a profound love for animals, often taking time to transport dogs to be rehomed, reflecting her compassionate spirit and commitment to helping those in need. Her interests extended to antique shows, where she enjoyed spending her time either purchasing cherished items or simply browsing through the collections, surrounded by the stories each piece held.
She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Dr. Riley Reed, Jr.; her sons, Schuyler Kordish (Shelly) and Timothy Kordish; stepson, Jason Reed (Heather); stepdaughter, Jessica Ku (Tim); and her eleven grandchildren: Ava, Amber, Ryan, Alex, Thomas, Hal, Jude, Luke, Jake, Noah, and Briana. Kathleen also delighted in her role as a great-grandmother to Avery and Arya, bringing joy and love into their lives.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Andrus Rowles; stepfather, William Doug “Dub” Dunn; stepson, Christopher Reed; and brothers, Jimmy and Ralph Rowles.
To celebrate Kathleen's life, a visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte.
Kathleen Mary Reed will be remembered not only for her loving presence but also for the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her legacy of compassion, care, and dedication continues to inspire all who knew her.
