Regina Mears Obituary

Regina M. (Konecny) Mears, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. Born Feb. 26, 1942, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia (Pawlosky) Konecny. Regina and her husband, James, were the owners and operators of the former Lincoln Avenue Lounge for 20 years. Some of her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and crocheting. Regina loved attending fairs, but her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren, especially for Sunday dinners. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Mears; two sons, Randy Lee Mears and Raymond Mears; an infant son, Aaron Mears; three brothers, Richard, Francis, and Anthony "Junior" Konecny; and one sister, Patricia Murphy. Regina is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Lisa Mears of Monroeville and Jeannie Shope of Latrobe; one brother, Jack Konecny (Diane) of Ohio; four grandchildren, Richard Monro, Adam Barkefelt (Amber), Samantha Mears (Sam), and Jacob Mears (Caleigh); and one great-granddaughter, Rylei Mears. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Terry Walls and her best friend, Shirley Walls, who was an angel in disguise, and their families for all of their kindness and help. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg.
