Kathy Ann Hulsey was born on January 9, 1956 in Marlow, Oklahoma and passed away
on July 11, 2025 in Dallas, Texas from complications related to cancer. She was the
daughter of Woody and Peggy Sue Hulsey and sister of Benjamin Hoy Hulsey.
Kathy was a proud life-long resident of Marlow, Oklahoma, which she always called
"Marlow, America," reflecting her view of Marlow as a quintessentially American town
which she was proud to call home. She had many fond childhood memories of fishing
on Lake Humphrey with her grandfather, learning to can vegetables and make jelly with
her grandmother, and playing the flute in the high school marching band. She graduated
from Cameron University in Lawton, after which she went to work for Halliburton in
Duncan. Over her more than forty years there, she served in many key roles in their
national and international accounting departments, retiring only when her department
was outsourced overseas.
Outside of work, Kathy loved to read, with a speed and devotion that astonished people
right up to the end of her life. She always looked forward to trips to the bookstore,
keeping detailed lists of books that she had read and ones she wished to read. She was
a devoted daughter, friend, and aunt, both to her own nieces and the children of her life-
long best friend Sheila Mercer. Kathy could always be relied on for fun, surprising "sock
gifts" for Christmas stockings or to ship frozen bags of pecans for emergency baking
needs, once to the astonishment of the postal workers who wondered why her package
was so cold. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Benjamin and Eileen Hulsey, her niece
Sarah Hulsey and husband Tim Ragan, her niece Natalie Delmage and husband
Michael Delmage, and her great-nephew and great-niece Luca and Mia Delmage.
Memorial services and burial will take place at the Marlow Cemetery at 10:30 am on
Saturday, July 19, 2025.
