Kenneth Ray Hemmi, born on August 8, 1950, in Houston, Texas, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Livingston, Texas. He was the beloved son of the late Edwin Lutzie Hemmi and the late Ida Christina Graham. Kenneth will be remembered not only for his dedication to family and community but also for the strong work ethic he demonstrated throughout his life.
Kenneth graduated from St. Thomas High School in Houston in 1968. Following high school, he attended the University of Houston until 1971 when he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country from April 1971 until April 1974, with all his service time spent in Germany.
After his military service, Kenneth returned to Texas, where he began his career. He worked for six years at Texas Iron Works alongside his father, Edwin, and cousin, Vernon Meazle. In his commitment to family, he later moved to Hallettsville to help care for the family farm. After selling the farm, Kenneth relocated to Livingston to support his mother and stepfather, George Graham. He then dedicated 25 years of his professional life to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he served as the Region 4 Compliance Officer before retiring
Kenneth was a man of varied interests; he loved hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and spending time with livestock. He also enjoyed reading and watching TV in his leisure time. Kenneth's multifaceted passions were a testament to his lively spirit and love for life.
Kenneth is proceeded in death by his father Edwin Hemmi, Stepfather George Graham and mother Ida Graham. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brother, Aaron Graham and his wife Teresa of Porter, Texas. And he is also survived by his nephews, Chris Watkins and his wife Ana of Humble, Texas, and AJ Graham and his wife Breanna of Kountze, Texas. His nieces, Stephanie Feese and her husband Clint of Woodville, Texas, and Emma Graham of Porter, Texas, along with five great nephews - Bailey, Taylor, Christian, Nicholas, and Francisco, and three great nieces - Karah, Maci, and Braelin. Kenneth is also remembered fondly by numerous cousins and friends.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a Funeral Service at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton on July 24, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM followed by a committal at 2:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Resurrection Chapel. Internment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Moulton, TX.
Pallbearers are AJ Graham, Bailey Goins, Vernon Meazle, Larry Berckenhoff, Chris Watkins and Leon Berckenhoff.Kenneth
