Kenneth Edward Kimble, age 75, of New Creek, WV, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 4, 2025 while under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.
Born on January 25, 1950, in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Olie B. and Ella Marie (Dean) Kimble. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Cathy L. (Duckworth) Kimble on February 4, 2021; two sisters, Pam Kimble and Betty White, and a brother Olie "Buck" Kimble, Jr.
Kenneth graduated from Keyser High School in 1968. He dedicated 42 years of his life serving as a mechanic at Dominion Power Mt. Storm Power Plant before retiring. An outdoorsman at heart, Kenneth took pleasure in hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed attending gun bashes at the local fire departments within his circle of friends and was a regular at the Chat-n-Chew Restaurant, where he started his daily routine with breakfast. He was fond of assisting his cousins on the Self Farm and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
Kenneth's life was marked by his service to his country. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, as part of the 25th Infantry, First Battalion, 8th Field Artillery. His dedication to his community continued after his service, as a member of Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser and Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser. He also attended the Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church, New Creek.
He is survived by his sons, Ryan Kimble and his wife, Tammy of Troy, VA and Kenny Kimble of New Creek; grandchildren, Abigail and Caleb Kimble; his close cousins, Tom and Bill Self, with whom he spent many good times; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Visitation will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will commence at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Shoemaker officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, where graveside military honors will be accorded.
