Kenneth Charles Kucharski
Was born into eternal life on April 22, 2025, at the age of 68, at his home in Thiensville, after a years-long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Loving husband of over 43 years of Janis Kucharski (nee Tucker). Dedicated father of Brett (Katie) and Brian (Hayley). Cherished grandpa of James and Tellier. He is further survived by sister-in-law Nancy (the late Donald) and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Chester and Alice, brother Donald and sister Dolores Roszak.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, on November 4, 1956, Ken was raised in Milwaukee and attended school at St. Mary of Czestochowa, Notre Dame High School and later Milwaukee Area Technical College. He married the love of his life, Janis, at Bayshore Lutheran Church in Whitefish Bay on September 5, 1981.
Ken had an immense love for socializing, family-time and traveling. His favorite trips included a family Caribbean cruise last year, Hawaii, his many skiing trips and family camping trips. But it was his love of socializing, his background in beer and wine sales with United Wine & Spirits and his bartending experience at The Village Pub in Shorewood that helped to establish his life's dream and passion. In 1997, Ken and Janis opened Skippy's Sports Pub in Thiensville, a labor of love and dedication. With their hard work and perseverance, Skippy's (now Skippy's Burger Bar) has grown into one of the most beloved local bars and restaurants in the Ozaukee County area. Ken had always fostered an environment of friendliness, goodhearted discussions, storytelling, entertainment and acceptance. One of Ken's favorite pastimes was being at Skippy's, either bartending or sitting at a barstool, chatting with customers and friends about anything and everything.
Another enormous part of Ken's life was his dedication to service. Ken was a member of the Mequon-Thiensville Lions Club for 26 years, a Past President and a Melvin Jones Fellow. As a Lion, he spearheaded the M-T Lions Club Applefest event and helped to bring wrestling to LionFest. He worked hundreds of volunteer hours every year to help events run smoothly. He was also an enthusiastic Thiensville Village Trustee since 2012 and was on the Thiensville Planning Commission. He was extraordinarily civic minded and devoted to the betterment of Thiensville and the greater Ozaukee County area.
Ken had unforgettable charisma, was extremely compassionate, possessed a wit that was truly unique and his love of bringing people together was unparalleled. His laugh was infectious. He was also a devoted family man. He was an adoring husband, a supportive and loving father and the most patient, compassionate and encouraging grandpa for his family. Family time, especially family card nights, were some of his favorite times together.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday April 30, 2025, from 3:00pm-4:45pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 303 Green Bay Road, Thiensville, followed by a Christian service at 5:00pm at Grace Lutheran performed by Pastor Bill Beyer. Funeral services provided by Schramka Funerals & Cremations. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials to the Mequon-Thiensville Lions Club at PO Box 131,
Thiensville, WI 53092, would be appreciated.
