Kent Alan Brackin, 60 of Brownsburg, IN, passed away unexpectedly, June 21, 2025, in his home. The following obituary was written by his loving family.

Kent was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 11, 1964, to Charles E. and Donna Rae Brackin. He is survived by his parents; his sister-in-law, Lynda J. Brackin; his two nephews, Garrett M. Brackin and Payton M. (Lauren) Brackin; his great-niece, Charlotte Rae Brackin, and his step-great-nephew, Dawson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark D. Brackin.

Kent was self-employed and very skilled in construction work, which he did most of his life. He loved music and was very talented on the drums. He really enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his long-time friends. He looked forward to that fishing trip every year. Every fall, he and his brother, Mark, would hunt elk in the Routt National Forest in Colorado, where they would join their Great-Uncle Johnie and cousins, Tim Brackin and Allan Brown, as well as several other friends who would go along with them. Great stories and memories were always made.

Kent was full of anticks and fun. He lived his life on his terms, never leaving a dull moment behind.

He loved his family and friends so very much.

He had a long-time relationship with Shelby and loved her boys and their grandchildren.

Kent loved the woods and mushroom hunting in Owen County on his family-owned property.

Kent was a legend in his own right. He will be missed and never forgotten by so many.

Rest in peace with your brother, Mark. We love you.

A Celebration of Kent's Life will be held at 7 pm, Monday, June 30, 2025, in the Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home, where friends are invited to gather with the family from 5pm until the service.

All are encouraged to keep the Brackin family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss.

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

Amen.
