Kevin P. Hannaford, 71, a longtime Somerville resident, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, July 21 at Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born on August 13, 1953 in Somerville and was a son of the late Ernest R. Hannaford and the late Margaret Rita (Walsh) Hannaford. He was raised and educated in the Somerville area and was a graduate of Somerville High School with the class of 1972. Upon graduation, he began his career as a carpenter. He worked as a master builder and carpenter from that point on for his entire life, carpentry was his world and he loved to build.
Kevin was a life member of the George W. Dilboy VFW Auxiliary Post 529 in Somerville.
He is survived by his siblings; Richard Hannaford of Hampton, NH, Ernest Hannaford and his wife, Helen, of Laconia, New Hampshire, Marilyn Curran and her husband, Joseph of Chelmsford, Mary Ann Whalen of Somerville, Jerry Hannaford of Methuen; her brother in law, James Coakley of Tewksbury; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
He was also the brother of the late Arlene Hannaford, the late Virginia Hannaford, the late Grace Coakley and a brother in law of the late Richard Whalen.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025 all are welcome to attend his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William of York Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA.
Procession will immediately follow for burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
Please join the family after the burial at the George Dilboy VFW Post 529, 351 Summer Street, Somerville, MA.
