Kim McDonald, 63, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Eagles in Grinnell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to PALS (Poweshiek Animal League Shelter) and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Kim's family online at www.smithfh.com.
Kimberly Ann Bunn was born the daughter of Donald Floyd Bunn and Lillian Bell (Garwood) Bunn on January 30, 1961 at St. Francis Hospital in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1980.
Kim was blessed with two sons, Cody and Andrew. She resided in Grinnell and she was a longtime employee at Amana Refrigeration for over thirty years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite vacation destination was anywhere that involved the ocean, especially the trips her and Jack took to Mexico. Her enjoyments were golfing and boating at Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma. She will be remembered for being caring and loving, and for her feisty personality.
Kim is survived by her sons, Cody (Sarah) McDonald of Grinnell and Andrew (Jamie) McDonald of Grinnell; 7 grandchildren: Kyle, Ella, Logan, Drake, Elissa, Evie, and Maximus; the love of her life, Jack Schmidt of Grinnell; and her siblings, Jan Tuttle of Malcom, Iowa, Alan Bunn of Brooklyn, Iowa, Michele (Tracy) Sadler of Grinnell, and Mike (Vickie) Bunn of Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lillian (Garwood) Bunn.

I worked with Kim at Amana Refrigeration. I remember Kim always talking about her family. And Jack. After she met him. She always looked forward to their vacations. I remember Kim's smile. She was always smiling and laughing. My condolences to all. Judy Niner
