Melvin Phillip Garcia, Sr., age 82, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away October 9, 2022.
He was born July 15, 1940, in Rio Arriba, New Mexico, to Herman and Virginia Martinez Garcia. He married Karen Jenkins on June 2, 1992. She passed away on March 5, 2007.
Melvin worked as a diesel mechanic for SAPP Brothers in Cheyenne for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing pool, going out to dinner, Margaritas, and watching Judge Judy. In his younger days he often went camping and traveling to see the sights across the country with Karen. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they definitely had him wrapped around their little fingers.
Melvin is survived by his children, Melvin Garcia, Jr.; Angelia (Kerry) Poole, Cheyenne; Leland Potter, Roosevelt; William Potter, Arthur (Kaycee) Potter, both of Bakersfield, CA; Roy Potter, Cheyenne; grandchildren, Raul Raymond Chapman Jr.(Lillian); Elaine (Richard) Williams, Jennifer Potter, Karen Richardson, Steven, Cheyenne, Bill, Chance, Hunter, Arthur Jr., Daniel, Elizabeth & Naylina Potter; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne Vrettas, Anne Kutay, Elena Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Galindo and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 East 300 North, Roosevelt, UT 84066. There will be a viewing that morning at the mortuary from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
