Kirk Douglas Brown was born on March 25, 1952, to parents Solomon Brown (deceased) and Delois J. Rawlings. He attended Detroit Public schools and was a member of Trumbull Presbyterian Church in Detroit. He graduated from Murray-Wright High School in 1970. He attended Shaw College for one year when he decided to look for a job because college was too expensive. He worked various jobs while looking for one that paid more. Finally, while searching for a job with his friend, Michael Robinson (deceased), he was hired at Chrysler Automotive Factory. They were both hired on the afternoon shift. Neither of them had a car, so when their shift was over, they would hope to catch a ride, ride the bus or they had to walk home, which was not so pleasing. Kirk stuck it out and worked 34 years at Chrysler until he retired in 2007.

In 1973, on a blind double date with his friend Andre, Kirk met Pamela Ann Thomas from Inkster, Michigan. They hit it off and Kirk took Pamela to her prom and they became a couple. On June 25, 1977, Kirk and Pamela were married. They were married at Womack Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, her family place of worship. Pamela was a lovely person, she always invited visitors to stay, sit, relax, eat and talk. Born into this union were four girls, Angela Nicole, Yolonda Michele, Alexandria Renee (Ric), and Kristina Marie. Pam preceded Kirk in death in 2004. Alexandria, preceded Kirk in death in 2018.

Kirk loved the sound of music. He was in a musical group called “The Fellas” where he sang first tenor. He loved the music of the 60’s and 70’s with Levi Stubbs being one of his favorite voices. Kirk loved cars and working on cars. He had books and books of fix-manuals for cars. It wasn’t uncommon for people to drive their new cars to him for him to “check it out” and give his opinion.

Kirk was a very cheerful man. He was “everyone’s” male figure; from nieces & nephews, neighborhood kids, his children’s friends, to his own grandkids. Not by saying much, but saying the MOST by his presence.

In his later years, with the help of YouTube, one of his favorite past-times was to search for golden hits of yester-year and dance and clap his hands to songs he thought were long lost. Songs that reminded him of his childhood, past family members, and adventures in his younger years.

Kirk was a very proud and active grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Alexander, Andrew, Brent, Christian, Mackenzie, Kristopher, Madison, and Kourtney. All of whom loved him dearly. Kirk was always there for his family, friends, and neighbors. If he had it, he was more than willing to help you get by. He was a very helpful, loving, exciting, generous and funny person and we will miss him dearly.

Kirk leaves to mourn: 3 daughters, 5 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; his mother: Delois Brown, a sister: Laraine Davis, two sisters-in-law: Linda Rounds and Kathy Thomas. Seven nephews: Kevin, David Jr., Daniel, Jonathon, Matthew, Winthrop, and Jordan. Six nieces: Adrienne, Noomsa, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Danielle, and Krystal and a host of family, friends, great nieces & nephews, and cousins in Michigan, Ohio, Georgia and Texas. To God Be The Glory!
