Van Kirk Gallentine, 63, of Norton, KS passed away July 8, 2025 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE. He was born August 30, 1961 in Norton, KS to Gary Allen and Naomi Ruth (Cozad) Gallentine.
Kirk grew up in Norcatur and attended school in Norcatur and Oberlin. He attended Norton Community High School for his senior year and graduated in 1980. He went on to receive an associate's degree in criminology from Barton Community College. Kirk drove a truck for Norton Ice. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature by gardening, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and playing cards. Most of all, Kirk loved spending time with his grandkids and family.
Kirk is survived by his children: Aaron Gallentine of Norton and Katelynn Gallentine of McCook, NE; grandchildren: Silus Haussermann and Thomas O'Neil; significant other, Deanna Gallentine of Norton; brother, Brett (Jenda Jones) Gallentine of Norton; sister-in-law, Kim Gallentine of Norton; stepbrothers: Kelly (April) Karnopp of Norton and Richard (Helen) Karnopp of Oberlin and stepsisters: Loretta Vise of Tennessee, Karla Vise of Oakley, KS, and Tamera Vise Kaltenbach of Mullinville, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary; brothers: William "Doug" Gallentine and Shawn Gallentine; stepbrother, Richard Vise and stepsister, Susan Vise.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, 215 W. Main St., Norton, KS 67654 to help with final expenses. Condolences may be left at www.plumergobber.com
