In Loving Memory of Kobe Mark Critchfield
November 14, 2008 – July 12, 2025
With unimaginable sorrow, we announce the passing of Kobe Mark Critchfield, a vibrant and kind-hearted 16-year-old, who left this world far too soon on July 12, 2025, following a tragic car accident in Peyton, Colorado.
Kobe was born on November 14, 2008, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was living in Castle Rock at the time of his passing. He loved basketball, skateboarding, listening to music, and spending time with his friends. One minute he was mastering a new skateboard trick, the next he was shooting hoops Kobe could do anything he set his mind to.
He was the beloved son of Mark and Laura Critchfield, and a devoted older brother to Jesse (15) and London (11), who will carry his memory with them forever. He was the cherished grandson of Sandra Critchfield and the late Ronald Critchfield of Utah, and Garry and Debbie Carmichael of Tasmania, Australia. Kobe was blessed with a large and loving extended family, including 22 cousins in the United States and 13 in Australia.
Kobe was a light in every room, a young man full of energy, laughter, and compassion. Whether he was goofing around with friends or showing kindness to a stranger, he lived with a spirit far beyond his years. His love for life was contagious, and his heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He attended Flagstone Elementary School in Castle Rock for his primary years, followed by Mesa Middle School for 7th and 8th grade. He began high school at Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado, completing his freshman year and most of his sophomore year there before transferring to DC Oakes High School in Castle Rock.
Kobe worked at AMC Theatres from March 2024 to March 2025, before taking on a new role at his local McDonald’s, where he was employed at the time of his passing. He was hardworking, responsible, and took pride in everything he did.
Kobe’s life, though far too brief, was radiant. He will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering love for those around him. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a great big brother, a wonderful cousin and nephew, and a son we were endlessly proud to call our own.
Rest in peace, sweet Kobe.
You were deeply loved,
and you will never be forgotten.
