Larissa Danielle Duke, age 28, of Paden City, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 8, 1996, in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of James Duke and Melissa Anderson.
She is preceded in death by a son Samson Moon Duke; paternal grandparents, Shirley Wright and Thurman Duke; maternal grandfather Ernie Anderson; her companion John Taylor.
Larissa was a resilient individual who courageously battled Ewing Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer, for six years. She was affiliated with Valley Church in Paden City, WV. She held a position at Burger King and was a caregiver with REM. Her interest included knitting, traveling, and socializing with her numerous friends.
She is survived by her mother Melissa (James) Anderson of New Martinsville; father James Duke of Paden City; a daughter Arayah Sunshine Duke at home; maternal grandmother Mary Postlethwait; 7 brothers, Cory Moore, Cameron Duke, Eseavian Long, Elijah Long, Uriah Anderson, Kyell Wilson and Tyler Lewis; 6 sisters Zoa Duke, Kassandra Anderson, Natasha Lewis, Hayley Long, Miah Long and Little Larissa Long; many special friends including Julie, Shylee and Ashley; many nieces and nephew.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 - 4 pm and 6- 8 pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where services will be held on Wednesday at 1 pm with Evangelist Dwight Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery, Proctor, WV.
