1955 – 2025

Larry Ray Best, 69, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on October 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and faithful member of Life Changers Church, Larry lived a life marked by love, laughter, and deep connection.

Larry found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing on a quiet afternoon, watching classic John Wayne films, the TV show Cops, or diving into a galaxy far, far away with his love for Star Wars. But nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. Known for his giant peanut butter pancakes, Larry's kitchen was a place of warmth and joy, where unforgettable memories were made.

He married the love of his life, Gayle Snyders, in 1991. Their bond was a lasting testament to love and partnership. Gayle survives him at their home.

Larry is also lovingly remembered by his children: Stephen (Trisha) Loudermilk of Pittsburg, Shawn (Terri) Loudermilk of Arma, Jeremy Scott Best (Boni Anderson) of Pittsburg, and Cynthia Best of Pittsburg. He leaves behind five beloved grandchildren—Brandon Loudermilk, Megan Loudermilk, Rylee Best, Damian Best, and Seth Loudermilk—along with four great-grandchildren and several cherished nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his siblings: William Franklin Best and wife of Girard, Danny Eugene Best of Girard, Roger D. Best of Cherokee, and Robert Dale Best of Georgia.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin Best and Mary Ellen Ruston; his sister, Betty Jean Fisher; and his daughter, Sarah’ Kate Michelle Best.

Larry’s legacy lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the meals shared around family tables, and the faith that grounded his life. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life for Larry Ray Best will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Life Changers Church, 706 N. Broadway, Pittsburg, Kansas. Service performed by Pastor Roger Brown, Pastor Tanner Brown, Pastor Lane Brown. Following the service, all are invited to join the family for a potluck dinner as we continue to honor Larry’s life with food, fellowship, and shared memories.
