Funeral Mass for Larry Flaherty will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Divine Mercy Parish - St Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wesley. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the church.
Larry Thomas Flaherty was born to Paul and Marie (Reno) Flaherty in Algona, Iowa, on February 26, 1941. He attended Corwith Wesley School. After school Larry served his country in the Navy from 1961 to 1963. On November 25, 1963, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Michelson, the couple later divorced.
Most of Larry's life he lived in Wesley. Larry assisted his father Paul in running Flaherty's Cafe and later worked at Wesley Standard Service. He cherished spending time with his family, listening to his records or the Willie's Roadhouse station. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and watching classic movies.
Larry died April 29, 2025, at his home in Savannah, Missouri. He was 84.
Larry is survived by his son, Michael (John) Flaherty; son-in-law, Doug Huff; grandchildren, Alyssa (Tyler) Gibson, Mallarie (Joe) Schafer, Collin (Alyssa) Huff, and Brianna (Chase) Flaherty. Larry is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Henry Schafer, Grace Schafer, Katherine Schafer, Wylie Schafer, Llewyn Gibson, Leonard Gibson, Cameron Huff, and Wesley Huff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Flaherty; daughter, Michele Huff; ex-wife, Linda Flaherty; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Flaherty.
