Larry G. Hilliard, 74, was found deceased in his home on July 4, 2025, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Born on March 31, 1951, to Leroy and Maxine (Lagers) Hilliard, Larry lived a life of simplicity and self-sufficiency.
Raised in the Turkey Ford area, Larry attended Council House Friend's Church. He was a graduate of Grove High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Larry's intelligence caught the attention of military recruiters who saw in him the potential for leadership, going so far as to recommend him for West Point. Although he chose a different path, his connection with the Army remained a point of pride.
Larry's life was dedicated to farming, an occupation that allowed him to live true to his values. On his farm he enjoyed growing his own food and living off the grid.
An avid reader, Larry read his Bible daily. He was happiest when hunting, fishing, or simply being in the open air, surrounded by nature.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Hilliard.
Left to cherish his memory, mother, Maxine Hilliard of Jay, sisters: Jerry Penner (Larry) of Jay, Janit Owens (Billy J.) of Seymour, MO, Jenean Roberts (Ricky) of Jay and Janiece Ford of Nixa, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services.
