Larry Dean Jones, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on July 9, 2025, at Haven Hospice Care Center, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Larry was born in Williston, North Dakota, and lived there until the age of six, when his family moved to McIntosh, Florida. He made Gainesville his home beginning in 1966.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betsy Goddard Jones; his children, Gina (Raul) Hernandez, Beverly (Jason) Tomlinson, and Glenn (Kathryn) Jones; ten grandchildren, Tori, Jonathan, Elli, Declan, Amelia, Lane, Owen, Morgan, Emily, and Ethan; and his brother, David (Laraine) Jones of Macon, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. Jones and Eleanor Jones Thomas; his brother, Allen (Renee') Jones; and his sister, Gloria (Brice) Johns.
Larry became a Christian as a young adult and was a devoted member of Westside Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served faithfully in the children's ministry, greeting ministry, and later in senior adult activities.
An entrepreneur at heart, Larry owned and operated several businesses, including three Jones Automotive locations in Gainesville, North Central Cellular Inc., and Jones Golf Carts.
He will be remembered for his goofy sense of humor, his ability to fix anything, his deep dedication to his family, and his unwavering faith in Christ.
