Laura Lane, age 69 of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024, at her residence.
Born September 11, 1955, in Akron, Ohio to William and Alice (Beckett) Lane. She received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. A specialist in her field of Unclaimed Property, Laura served as an attorney for several organizations and last worked for the Eaton Corporation, serving for 9 years before retiring in 2021. She formerly served on the board of the Lake Erie Science Center.
Laura had a passion for rescuing labrador retrievers and owned labradors her entire life. A life-long voracious reader, Laura participated in many book clubs. During the winter months, Laura and her husband enjoyed their home in Florida with their two dogs.
Surviving is her husband of 27 years, Edward Gorman; brothers, David (Lisa) Lane, and Dennis (Pat) Lane; brothers-in-law, Patrick (Mary) Gorman and Owen (Debra) Gorman; sisters-in-law, Anne Wilson, Barbara (Ralph) Fetherolf, Julianna (Keith) Dinehart, as well as nieces and nephews, William, Kimberly, Abigail, Andrew, Gary, Patrick, Christopher, Jonathan, John Michael, Paul, Native, Wesley and Helene.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother-in-law, Gregory Gorman.
There will be a visitation and family will receive friends in the foyer of St Joseph Church, 200 St Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio, on October 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Laura’s honor can be made to Love-A-Stray, PO Box 125, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012 or your local animal shelter.
