Because of Lavon's passion for the McFarland Food Pantry, we welcome guests to bring a donation to either the visitation or the church service in her honor.
Lavon L. Geasland, age 76, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1948 to Rudolph and Nellie (Jahnke) Berndt. She was born and raised in Lancaster, WI where she was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethlehem Evangelical & Reformed Church, and she was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1967. She then moved to Madison in the fall of 1967 and graduated from MATC in 1968 as an Accounting Clerk. She married Don Geasland on July 13, 1974, and he preceded her in death in July of 2018.
Lavon work at Wegner and Associates CPAs for over 15 years and then Schoep’s Ice Cream in clerical for over 32 years. Lavon completed her career with retirement on December 31, 2015.
Lavon was very involved and dedicated to McFarland United Church of Christ served on the church board, McFarland UCC Council (SALT). She served on many community boards as well including McFarland Food Pantry Board, Friends of McFarland Library Board, The Point at Richmond Point Condo Board, and Shared Table Community Meal Steering Committee.
Lavon was a devoted fan to the Wisconsin Badgers’ football, basketball, and girls’ volleyball teams. She enthusiastically followed the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Lavon was a lover of Hallmark movies.
Lavon is survived by her son Brian (Laura); grandchildren Drew and Gabrielle; brother Virgil (Janet); and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; parents; brother Roger Dale who died in infancy; a niece who died in infancy; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
Visitation will be from 4-6:00PM Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Cress MCFARLAND. Visitation will continue from 9-11:00AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at McFarland United Church of Christ, 5710 Anthony St, McFarland, WI 53558 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. A lunch for family and friends will be at the church following the service. Lavon will be brought to her final place of rest in a private ceremony at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
