Lavon "Doodle Bug" Ramey, 61, of Lafayette, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1964, in Lafayette, Georgia where he attended Lafayette High School. He worked as a landscaper and loved yardwork, especially mowing. He was also an avid guitar player and singer. He collected eagle figurines as he loved the bird. As a sports fan, he loved the Georgia Bulldogs and Nascar. Above all, he loved his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Ramey; parents, William Jake Ramey and Idella Swafford Ramey; and siblings, David Timothy Simmons, James Nolan Simmons, Jimmy Ramey, and Elizabeth Ann Prevatt.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Paulette Liles, Terry Simmons, Anita Murphy, Vernon Simmons, Bob Simmons, Lynn Kiessling, Jackie Simmons, and Betty "Cissy" Ramey; nephew, William Curtis Ramey, and special recognition to niece, Tammy Ingram; several other nieces and nephews; extended family, Ronnie Gust and Timmy Steele, Delores (Momma) Steele, Johnny Steele, Mr. Dan, and Karen; and his beloved dog, Buddy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
