Lawrence Edward Duvall, affectionately known as "Larry," passed away on May 1, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1945, in Hamilton County, Indiana, to Laura Jeanetta Gilliam Duvall and Bismarck Gladstone Duvall. He was their only son and the second of three children.
Larry excelled academically and was a member of the National Honor Society at Jackson Central High School in Hamilton County, Indiana. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, which was then an esteemed all-male engineering college. During his time at Rose-Hulman, Larry was a member of the ROTC and led the college band in concerts and parades as the conductor and drum major. He was also an accomplished trombone player and won music contests while in high school.
Larry married Annie Benford Duvall, and they had one child, Darren Keith Duvall. He proudly served his country with honor in the Vietnam War, where he served in the Army Corps of Engineers; Larry achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded several medals, including the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device.
After returning home, Larry briefly attended Indiana University School of Medicine. However, he ultimately chose to pursue a career in the technology industry. Throughout his life, Larry was a devoted caretaker of both his parents until their passing. He had a passion for music, sports, coin collecting, farming, and gardening.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents. He leaves behind his son, Darren Keith Duvall (Patricia); and his grandson, Benjamin Niranjan Duvall, both of whom reside in Carrollton, Georgia. He also leaves behind his ex-wife, Dr. Annie Benford Duvall, who lives in Decatur, Georgia. Additionally, he has two sisters, Carolyn Duvall Bond, who lives in Madison, Alabama, and Jannine Duvall Harris, who lives in Wheeling, Illinois. Larry is also survived by many relatives and friends from the Roberts Settlement community in Atlanta, Indiana.
