Leighton Ray Stovall, 79, of College Station, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on March 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born December 10, 1945, in Harlingen, Texas, Leighton was the son of Dorthy Stovall Whitlock. After moving to Corpus Christi as a child, Leighton became a proud member of the Mary Carroll High School class of 1964, lettering 2 years in football. Leighton proudly served his country in the Air Force for four years before being honorably discharged. Leighton went on to have a successful 31 year career with CP&L and AEP. Leighton married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Huckaby, on June 6, 1970. Together for almost 55 years, they built a wonderful life filled with love as they lived in Corpus Christi, Odem, Dumas, and College Station. Leighton was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Edward Alan Stovall. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda; sons Leighton (Jan), Daryl (Melissa); grandchildren Zachary, Caleb, Sarah, Austen, and Noah; sisters Marlene Woodall (Steve), of the Woodlands, and Susan Ray, of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held on April 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Corpus Christi with Pastor Anthony Sisemore officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association in Leighton's honor.
