Leo Villaraiz Azarraga passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband to wife Carolyn Azarraga.
Leo is survived by his wife; a daughter, Allyson Carol Swedbergh and son, Jason Leo Azarraga; granddaughter, Layla Caylyn Coley; nieces, Meyanda and Kathy Guillen; many nieces and nephews in the Philippines.
Leo received his PhD in Chemistry from Louisiana State University in 1964. He came to Athens in 1971 and worked for the Environmental Protection Agency as a research chemist. He retired after 30 years.
