Leona A. Vokas (née Krizman), age 96, of Novelty, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Jerome; loving mother of Thomas Vokas (Janet), Martin Vokas (Melissa), and Janet Porter (Thomas); grandmother of Todd Vokas (Mandie), Maggie Murray (Ryan), Zack Vokas (Lindsey), Leah Vokas, Eric Vokas (deceased), Madison Jones (Reid), Bernie Porter, Owen Porter (Anna), and Jack Porter; and great-grandmother of five. Leona and Jerome were married in Cleveland on Thanksgiving Day in 1950, during the largest snowstorm of the century, and shared 74 devoted years together. She was proud of her Slovenian ancestry, spending hours researching her genealogy. She loved traveling the world, spending winters in Pensacola, taking rides to enjoy nature and its changing seasons, and playing the piano. Her home was a gathering place for family and friends, hosting many picnics and holidays. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and will be remembered for her kind heart and deep gratitude for life’s blessings. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 at 11 A.M. Friends and family will be received from 10 A.M. until time of mass. Burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery. Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests donations to the Marianist Province of the U.S., 4425 West Pine Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108-2301.
