Leona M. Willenborg, 94 of Teutopolis, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 with her family by her side.
A prayer service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Teutopolis. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time, Wednesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Support Systems, Catholic Charities, or the charity of the donor's choice.
Leona was born May 26, 1931 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Ferdinand and Helen M. (Vahling) Breer. She married Virgil L. Willenborg on October 20, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2004. Leona was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Council of Catholic Women.
Leona is survived by her children, Chuck (Maureen) of Teutopolis, Julia (Gary) Schumacher of Strasburg, Theresa Soto of Adrian, MI, Colette (Steven) Meyer of Teutopolis, Mary Jones of Teutopolis, Alice (Eric) Kinkelaar of Seymour, Barb (Keith) Weber of Teutopolis, and Marlene (Doug) Kremer of Mattoon; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Clarence (Carol) Breer, Florence Kinkelaar, Paul (Donna) Breer, and Kathy (Jerry) Hendrickson; sister-in-law, Kay Breer.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Nichole Lynn Schumacher; son-in-law, Max Soto; siblings, Agnes Ruholl, Theresa Overbeck and Joseph Breer and in-laws Ambrose Ruholl, Leroy Overbeck, Art Kinkelaar, Paul and Dolores Niebrugge.
