Linda Geiger, 82 of Deep River passed away Monday morning, June 30, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the United Church of Deep River. Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma with the family present from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Deep River, Deep River Fire Department or the Morrison-Schrader American Legion Post 296 of Deep River. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
Linda Lee Geiger was born on November 12, 1942 in Deep River to Paul and Betty Graham Light. She attended school at Deep River- Millersburg and graduated in 1960. She started working for her parents at the Gibson Savings Bank in 8th grade. Linda was united in marriage to Richard Geiger on January 21, 1961 at her parents' home in Deep River. Linda worked for the Central National Bank in Des Moines for 6 years before moving to Kansas City for 7 years. She worked for a temporary agency as a legal secretary for three different law firms before being placed permanently. She was proud to have taught herself the required shorthand. They moved back to Deep River in 1972 and she was a stay-at-home mom taking care of their children, Richelle and Michael. After the death of her father, Linda, Richard and Betty took over Light's Insurance. Linda retired in 2013 working over 40 years.
Linda enjoyed cross stitching, quilting and making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. Linda and her mother had fun at the casino and enjoyed their time together. She also liked to bowl, was a member of a Montezuma league, camping, playing cards, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, many vacations to Colorado to their home there with family. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was also a member of the United Church of Deep River, the Morrison-Schrader American Legion Auxiliary, and the Progress Club.
Her legacy will be honored by her husband, Richard of Deep River; her children, Richelle Kluck of Boonville, MO and Michael (Wendy) Geiger of Deep River; her grandchildren, Amanda Adair, Lindie Adair, Alec (Shelbie Dennis) Adair, Tyler (Kenadie) Geiger, Tessa (Cole) Watts, Tod (Kylee Larmore) Geiger; great grandchildren, Emertson and Hudson Geiger and R. J. Rieves; along with many other friends and relatives.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Betty Light; sons-in-law, James "Jim Ray" Kluck and Steve Adair; sister-in-law, Kathy Weber; and several other relatives and friends.
