Linda-Gray Lewis Macias, born June 3, 1941, in Dunedin, Florida, lived an extraordinary life full of adventure, passion, and purpose.
She was the daughter of the late Henry Hudson Barton Lewis Jr. and Carolyn F. Sklaroff (née Nichols), and was predeceased by her half-brother, Joseph Walter "Nick" Sklaroff.
As a young woman, Linda was a licensed pilot and parachutist who survived a plane crash while piloting the aircraft in 1968. She was also an accomplished equestrian, drawn to the grace of riding. During her college years, she fenced on the Michigan State University women's team, embracing the sport with the same bold energy she brought to every part of her life.
A fearless spirit her entire life, Linda gravitated toward whatever she found fun and exhilarating, whether it was modeling in Philadelphia, dancing as a regular on American Bandstand, going for a train ride with Elvis Presley, or traveling the world to dog shows with her beloved dog, Karellen (who may have been her favorite out of all of us). She pursued her passions boldly and without apology, always leading with her heart.
A true trailblazer for women, Linda was a highly successful saleswoman at a time when few women held such roles. Later, she helped run a thriving real estate business in the Lansing area alongside her beloved husband, Samuel. Linda had a deep love for Mexican culture, which she embraced through her life with Sam, the dance, the food and the strong sense of family it brought her. Later in life, Linda found comfort and meaning in the Catholic faith and became a member of Cristo Rey Church, where she attended regularly.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Samuel V. Macias; her children, Elizabeth Sterling Shaw (Thomas), Christopher Edward Connally (Loubna), and Holly Lewis Thoms (Doug); her half-sister, Mari-Gray Khoury (Martin); and her cherished grandchildren, Bradley Hoberman, Jonathan Connally, and Joshua Connally.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 201 W. Miller Rd, Lansing, MI 48911 with a visitation one hour prior to the service; interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Linda's deep love for animals, especially dogs, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society. Her compassion for animals was unwavering, and supporting their welfare is a beautiful way to celebrate her life and legacy.
