Linda Ann (Rickey) Hanley, 77, of Russellville, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 at her residence. She was born on November 16, 1947 in Maysville, Kentucky to Bruce and Ruby (Dotson) Rickey.
Linda did enjoy early "farm girl" life and spoke often of fond memories made tending to the cows with Daddy. She grew up at Bethlehem Church of Christ, where she became lifelong friends with Judy (Parker) Askren and Shirley (Hughes) Lewis. Linda was active in the choir and like her Grandmother, Katie Bell, was known for her beautiful alto voice.
On March 19, 1964 Linda married William C. (Chipper) McRoberts. Too this union they welcomed a son, David and daughter, Kelly.
Linda worked in banking for a few years but strived for more for her and her family. She earned her degree in business and through many years of hard work and dedication went from being a very young grocery clerk at Russellville store to Senior Executive Assistant at Senco Fastening Systems. After nearly 30 years, Linda was able to retire and live well for many more years. Linda loved the outdoors. She would always prefer to be outside than in and was happier mowing the yard than doing housework. Cooking was not her favorite thing to do, but boy did she do it well! She will always be remembered for her homemade egg noodles, which were second to none. She also enjoyed gardening. One of her favorite things was walking to the garden with a salt shaker to enjoy a fresh tomato straight off the vine. She was a devoted wife and mother and would go to the end of the Earth to be sure David and Kelly were taken care of. After retirement she still kept herself busy. She studied skin care/aesthetics and enjoyed several years selling Mary Kay, helping ladies to find their look and beauty.
Living in Finneytown for several years, she did enjoy life near the city. She became a member of Clovernook Church of Christ.
In 2016 she decided it was time to move back to Russellville and her family. She continued worship at Bethlehem and was happy to be home. Unfortunately, dementia reared its ugly head and after just a few years, it would rob her of her mind. However, in the end, she won. She was surrounded by her family when Heaven gained a treasure on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Linda is survived by her children, David (Mary) McRoberts of Winchester and Kelly (Dale) Anderson of Russellville. Her siblings, Sue (Bill) Baker of Batavia, Carolyn (Michael) Morgan of Cincinnati, David Rickey of Adams County, and Paul Rickey of Batavia. Grandchildren, Steven (Kristin) McRoberts of Russellville, Ashley (Joe) Boots of New York, Christopher Ball of Cincinnati, Taylor (Brittany) McRoberts of Georgetown. Great Grandchildren, Willow Kathleen McRoberts, Wyatt Guy McRoberts, Kinsley Elizabeth Boots, Brayden and Navaeh Jones of Kentucky. Nieces Emily Morgan, Lauren (Joshua) Rhodes and Rachel Morgan of Cincinnati. Three step grand and four step great grandchildren, Jeremy (Stevie) Spires, Izzy and Charlie; Chris Spires, Marissa and Parker; Emily (Johnathan) Mahan. Her beloved cat Mitzi.
Special thanks to Maria Puckett for helping to take care of our mother. Also, to Kelly and Dale for taking such great care of her and sharing their home.
Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Bethlehem Church of Christ in Winchester, Ohio with Tom Claibourne officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Decatur Cemetery.
