Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reuland & Turnbough Funeral Directors - Lake Forest on Jun. 23, 2025.
Lindsay Peeler-lovingly known as Mommy, L, Linds, Dinzee, and Lindz-a-Binz-was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her. She passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025, surrounded by her beloved husband, Rob, and family. She was 39 years old.
Born on March 31, 1986, to Dawn Skoien, Lindsay grew up in
Lake Forest, Illinois, in a home filled with love. As the eldest of three girls, she embraced her role with pride, always caring for her younger sisters, Kristi Bernardi and Bethany Stephens.
She was extraordinary in every way-a high achiever, a role model, and a true friend. Her childhood was filled with family trips to Door County and Disney World-her two favorite places in the world, even into adulthood. Summers were spent building sandcastles at Lake Forest Beach and competing in Exmoor swim meets (always followed by ice cream at Sweets). What began as toddler ballet classes blossomed into Lindsay's lifelong love of dance.
At Lake Forest High School, she was an active member of the Dance Team, a leader on Student Council, and in the National Honor Society. As a teenager, Lindsay spent summers working at the Winter Club of Lake Forest as both a camp counselor and lifeguard-a job she truly enjoyed. She was thrilled when she and Rob joined the club in 2024, ensuring their children could experience the same special place. Lindsay was voted to the Homecoming Court her senior year-a testament to her friendly, inclusive nature-and earned the "Most Spirited" Senior Superlative, an incredibly fitting distinction. Two of her favorite events growing up included the annual Lake Forest Day Parade and Carnival, and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in historic Market Square. As a mother, Lindsay loved attending these same events and seeing their magic through her children's eyes.
At Northwestern University, where Lindsay completed her undergraduate studies, she built deep friendships and pursued her passions with energy. As a member of the Ladycat Dance Team, she performed at Big Ten football and basketball games, competed at the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, and even danced at the Sun Bowl. She served as Vice President of Standards for the Delta Delta Delta sorority and was an active member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. A proud Wildcat, she graduated in 2008 with a dual degree in Economics and Communication Studies and a minor in Business Institutions.
Lindsay began her professional career at Deloitte Consulting in Chicago. After five years of weekly work trips and consulting projects across the country, she moved to Ann Arbor to pursue her MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. She fully embraced her second "go" at campus life-from a pre-MBA trip to Croatia, to leading the MBA tailgate bus, to working on a student-led project in Chile, to trekking to see the gorillas in Rwanda. She spent the summer of 2013 in San Francisco as an MBA intern at LinkedIn. She made the most of every experience and new opportunity.
As much as Lindsay quickly fell in love with Ann Arbor, she also found love there-meeting her future husband, Rob Peeler. Their friendship blossomed into a deep and lasting love. Her wardrobe quickly expanded to keep up with the many adventures they pursued together-from backpacking for 45 days through Southeast Asia and getting scuba certified in Thailand, to road-tripping to the Grand Canyon and camping in national parks across the country, along with several trips each year to ski the Rocky Mountains with friends. Lindsay was always ready for the next adventure with Rob, and together they treasured every opportunity to create special memories.
After earning her MBA in 2014, Lindsay returned to Deloitte full-time, eventually becoming a Senior Manager in the Human Capital Consulting practice. Passionate about healthcare, she focused her work on the intersection of the future of work and the future of health. Throughout her impressive career, she was known as a dedicated professional, trusted teammate, compassionate leader, and mentor to many.
Rob proposed in the Cayman Islands in 2015, and they were married at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest on September 17, 2016. The years that followed were filled with travel, laughter, and building a foundation for their growing family. Eventually, Lindsay and Rob settled in Lake Bluff-a community rooted in love, with cousins just minutes away and family traditions flourishing.
Lindsay became a beloved part of the community-frequenting the Lake Bluff Farmers Market, attending yoga classes at her favorite local studio, and never missing Bluffinia or a block party. For the annual Lake Bluff 4th of July Parade, Lindsay loved that their house could be the "home base" for holiday festivities. She had enjoyed this parade ever since she was a child and even performed in it as a member of the Lake Forest Dance Team. She cherished living so close to Lake Michigan and, in recent years, began doing periodic Polar Plunges. Many loved ones joined her for a plunge in November 2024 to honor the two-year anniversary of her diagnosis.
Lindsay was the heartbeat of her family-hosting holidays, planning matching outfits, organizing trips, and always giving thoughtful, intentional gifts. An extraordinary mother to Adeline (6 years old), Beckett (4), and Camden (2), she approached motherhood with deep devotion, infusing each day with joy, gentleness, and purpose. Her children were her world, and through them, her spirit continues-bright, joyful, and full of love.
Many have been in awe of Lindsay's strength throughout her battle with cancer. Her faith journey began in infancy-she was baptized at Winnetka Congregational Church in 1986 and later confirmed at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. As a young person, she was active in youth group, loved summer service trips, and volunteered at Vacation Bible School.
Lindsay and Rob committed to making Christ the center of their marriage and were passionate about joining community-based Bible studies wherever they lived-across Ann Arbor, Lincoln Park, and Lake Bluff. They formed deep relationships with other families walking through life together and were intentional about raising their children in a home rooted in His love.
In late 2022, while pregnant with Camden, Lindsay was diagnosed with glioblastoma. She faced her journey with the same grace, courage, and optimism that defined her life. Even in the most difficult moments, she never complained. She chose to find beauty in the everyday, to create lasting memories, and to shower her family with unwavering love. Through her faith in Jesus as her Savior, she gained a miraculous confidence that the battle was already won. Still, she chose to fight-so she could continue loving her family and be a witness to others-until God called her home.
Lindsay's faith was not abstract-it was deeply personal and lived out daily. In her own words:
"I felt and saw God work an absolute miracle in my life around my surgery (leading up to and on 12/2/22), and you were a part of that. I am thankful beyond words that you took time to pray for me. My hope is that you clearly see how the events that took place were divinely ordained by God. God heard and answered our prayers in so many personal ways-to each of us, and for all of us. He impacted my life and all of ours. He gave us a tangible work as only He can. Everyone who demonstrated faith by love and praying for me is part of a real miracle. We are basking in love and thanksgiving with you and our Lord. While there is a journey ahead, I rejoice in the Lord and His miraculous."
Lindsay-we'll never forget your beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and brilliant mind. Every life you touched was better for having known you. We'll be looking for our "Lindsay moments" from this day forward. We love you forever, Lindsay.
Lindsay is survived by her husband, Rob, and their children, Adeline, Beckett, and Camden; her mother, Dawn; her sisters, Kristi (Matthew) and Bethany (Tyrone Christian); and her sister-in-law, Alissa Boesl (Neil). She was a beloved aunt to Thad and Brynlee Boesl; Tess, Anna, and Claire Bernardi; and Sophie and Belle Stephens. She will be deeply missed by her entire family and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held at Christ Church, 100 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest on Wednesday, June 25, from 3:00–8:00 p.m., and a Funeral Service will follow at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N.
