Lois Ann Della Monica, 80, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in the Bronx, New York.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Annunciation Church in Crestwood.
Lois was born on May 27, 1945, in the Bronx to Raymond and Frances McElhinney, and grew up alongside her three brothers-Lawrence, Dennis, and Kevin. A lifelong Bronx resident, she raised her son Christopher Della Monica with unwavering love and dedication.
Over the years, Lois built a long and fulfilling career as an office administrator, working at several organizations, including Providence Rest Nursing Home, where she met her beloved partner of many years, Edward Nilon.
Lois's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life and only deepened with the arrival of her adored grandson, Christopher Jr. ("CJ"), in 2013. Born to her son Chris and daughter-in-law Tina, CJ instantly became the light of her life, affectionately known to Lois simply as her "baby."
Lois was known for her bright spirit, generous heart, and natural ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Her warmth, humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Christopher Della Monica, daughter-in-law Tina Della Monica, and grandson Christopher Jr.; her brothers and sisters-in-law Lawrence & Sylvia McElhinney and Dennis & Anna McElhinney; her sister-in-law Francine McElhinney; her nieces and nephews; and her devoted partner Edward Nilon.
She was predeceased by her brother Kevin McElhinney.
Lois will be remembered with love, laughter, and affection-and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
