WADDINGTON – Lois B. Mayette, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Waddington, NY on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Per Lois's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Lois was born on November 28, 1938, in Waddington, NY the daughter of Clifford and Myrtle (Irish) Mayette. She pursued her passion for helping others by earning a Master's Degree in Social Work from SUNY Stony Brook College on Long Island. She went on to have a long and impactful career in private practice, serving clients for 35 years before retiring at the age of 72. A gifted writer, Lois was also a published author of four books. In her quiet moments, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially sitting on her front porch and watching the deer and birds that visited her yard. She is survived by her children, Buddy O. and Beth Yantz of Lima, OH, and Clifford S. and Lynn Yantz of Detroit, MI; five beloved grandchildren: David, Alatheia, Jonathan, Timothy, and Mark. She is also survived by her siblings: Patsy Sharlow of Waddington, Margaret Hurley of Madrid, Bonnie McElwain, Terry Lynn Mayette, and Freddy Mayette, all of Waddington, as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her daughter Christine Yantz in 2003, and by her siblings Marion Vallance, Evelyn Carr, and Clifford Jr. Mayette. She will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, intellectual curiosity, and deep love for her family and community.
