Lonnie, son of Farris Baker, Sr. and Lillian Brake Baker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 92.
He was born on August 6, 1932, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work in Nunnelly, Tennessee.
Lonnie was a kind and gentle soul, known for his unwavering dedication and industrious spirit. From sunup to sundown, he embodied the true meaning of a hard worker. His hands were skilled and versatile; he was a talented farmer, welder, tractor mechanic, and cattle farmer. Evenings in the spring and summer often found him tending to his cherished garden, a place of peace and productivity.
A man of deep faith, Lonnie loved Jesus and his church family at Maple Valley Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon for many years. He cherished his relationships and delighted in sharing and retelling stories from his younger years, leaving his family with a rich tapestry of memories and wisdom.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jewell Harris Baker, great-granddaughter Bailey Grace Coates, sister Louise Leathers and brother Donald Baker.
He leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by his daughters, Felecia Howell and Shelia Heatherly (Herbert). He was a cherished grandfather to David Howell, Greg Howell (Amy), Matthew Howell (Felicity), Jennifer Coates (Vincent), and Lauren Sanders (Steven). His great-grandchildren, Drew Howell (McKenzie), Abby Howell, Tyler Howell, Alyssa Howell, Alex Howell, Anna Howell, Brianna Howell, Sarah Howell, Ethan Howell, Brice Coates, Madison Coates, Wyatt Sanders & Levi Sanders, along with 5 great-great-grandchildren will also deeply miss their "Papa."
Lonnie will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steadfast faith, his tireless work ethic, and the love he so freely gave to his family and community. He has truly gone home to rest.
