Richard Darrell Sigmon, 78, of Sandlick Road Bluefield, WV, passed Sunday, October 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born April 6, 1947, in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late James Willard and Maxine Hurst Sigmon. Richard had been a resident of Sandlick for over 47 years. He also dedicated many years working in the coal mining industry.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Windle, and brother Reginald Sigmon.
Those left to cherish Richard's memory are his loving wife, Julia Mae Hodge Sigmon, of the home; son, Richard Darrell Sigmon II and wife Delissa Sigmon, of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Lisa Kay Neel and husband Mark of Princeton, WV; sister, Tammy Bailey and husband Ian of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, Justin Neel and wife Julie, Courtney Hendrick and husband Brandon, and Natalie Spease and husband Chris; great grandchildren, Piper Sigmon, Ryder Hendrick, Caden Neel, Ryleigh Neel, Maverick Spease, and Weston Spease.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Kenny Bogart officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Mausoleum with Chris Spease, Justin Neel, Brandon Hendrick, Caden Neel, David Thomason, Joe Thomason, Ben Auton, and Tristan Bailey serving as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Sigmon family.
