Manton - Loretta "Joan" Babcock, of Manton passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Ohana care home in Manton. She was 90.
Joan was born on March 8, 1935, at home in Manton, the oldest of what would eventually become 16 siblings to Donald and Kathleen (Paddock) Lovell. Joan grew up and attended school in Manton eventually working with Mitchell Corp in Cadillac. She was a loving mother raising five boys and was married to Orson E. Babcock in December of 1951 in Cadillac. They spent 50 years together before his passing in January of 2000. Joan was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed attending the Revival center with her husband. She could often be found spending time with her sisters. Joan will be remembered for her "tell it like it is" demeanor and the love she had for her family.
She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Babcock and Bruce Babcock of Florida and Tony Babcock of Mesick; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her siblings; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Daniel Duane Babcock, Vincent "Chuck" Babcock; several siblings; and her parents.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
