Loretta Marie Martin
May 17, 1948 - July 10, 2025
Loretta was a true traveling/wanderer and made many friends wherever she made her
home. She was born in Berkley, Michigan to Edwin and Dorothy (McElroy) Martin.
The oldest of seven children, she was a great help to her parents watching the
smaller children. She provided homes and vacation spots to her brothers and
sister through the years and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Loretta
was predeceased by her stillborn baby Eric, her parents, her brothers Lawrence,
Keith, and Kevin, her niece Elizabeth, and her nephew Ryan Martin. Loretta is
survived by her brothers Norman and Shawn Martin, her sister Maureen Meyers (Jon),
her nephew Stephen Martin (Pam), her nieces Tara Lynn Martin-Connin (Ryan) and
Erin Marie Martin, her great nieces Kaitlyn and Zoey Martin, and her great
nephews Nicholas Martin, Collin Martin, Aidan Connin, Dylan Martin, and Austin
Connin.
Loretta graduated from Saint Mary High School in Royal Oak, Michigan and then
attended Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan.
Loretta lived in Michigan, Virginia, Oahu/Maui Hawaii, and Florida. She
traveled across country and everywhere she stopped people fell in love with
her smile, her wit, her charm, and especially her passion for life. She
was wonderfully independent and could tackle any issue big or small and
obtain success.
Loretta had a great love of flower gardening and animals. She cared for and owned
turtles, rabbits, ferets, frogs, and a parrot as well as her dogs, Finnegan,
Emma, Lucky, and Katie. Although alergic, she also rescued a feral cat.
Loretta's work ethic was disciplined and she explored and succeeded in many fields
(retail, hospitality, office management, customer service, etc.) but her true
calling was healthcare. Loretta was a compassionate caregiver. If you were
fortunate to receive her care you received knowledge, experience, and generous
empathy.
Loretta will be missed by family and friends but be held deep in our hearts.
We have great memories.
A memorial mass will be scheduled at a later date.
