Loris R. Pfaltzgraff, 80, of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Harrisburg, Illinois. She was born on July 5, 1944, to Francis and Cleora (Hansen) Parris.

Loris earned her bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and began her career as a high school math teacher in Greenfield and West Liberty, Iowa. In 1973, she and her husband, Leroy, moved to Carbondale, Illinois, where they established Pyramid Electronics, a family business. Loris served as secretary and bookkeeper from 1973 to 2004, playing an integral role in the company’s success. She also worked in the bakery of a grocery store and as a bank teller in Carbondale, always demonstrating her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.

On November 28, 1969, Loris married Darwin Leroy Pfaltzgraff near Storm Lake, Iowa. Together, they shared a life full of adventure, traveling the United States in their fifth wheel camper, cherishing time with family, and exploring the beauty of the country. Loris was a talented gardener, finding joy and solace in her garden. She adored her cat, Blackie, who lived to the remarkable age of 23.

In addition to her many talents, Loris became a licensed amateur radio operator in 1995, further showcasing her curiosity and love of learning.

Loris is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Leroy; her daughter, Julie (Jerry) Silbaugh of Jefferson, Iowa; her sister, Elayne (Nickolas) Pauly of Ankey, Iowa; and her brother, Albert (LeAn) Parris of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Cleora Parris.

A celebration of Loris’s life will be held at a later date at Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church on Robinswood Lane in Tunnel Hill. Please check back for updates on the service date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.

Loris will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and love for her family, friends, and the world around her. Her warmth and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
