Louie Tong Obituary

Louie Paul Tong, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 91. Born on January 28, 1934 in Denver Colorado, to Louie Sare Tong and Ruth Angie Jones, Louie lived a life filled with hard work, family, and a deep commitment to his community.
Louie married the love of his life, Lois Ann Keele, on November 6, 1953, in Gallup, New Mexico. Together, they raised three children: Mike Tong of Cedar City Utah, Louise (Layne) Slack of Cedar City Utah, and Julie (Mike) Baca of Kearns Utah. Louie was also the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, who were all a constant source of joy for him.
A man who was always driven by a strong work ethic, Louie started his first job as a dishwasher at the age of 8. He was a successful business owner of the Dairy Freeze Restaurant located in Cedar City Utah, serving the community with a cold coke and world famous homemade candy for many years. In addition, Louie made significant contributions to the community as an Iron County Commissioner and as the Director of Asian Affairs for the State of Utah.
One of Louie's greatest joys was spending time at the cabin he built, where he could relax, make memories, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings with his loved ones.
Louie had a natural ability to connect with others and was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his talent for storytelling. Whether with friends, family, or strangers, he was always ready to share a laugh or recount a memorable tale.
Louie is preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his son, Mike, his parents and siblings, Bernice, Lucille, and LaRae. He leaves behind his brother Raymond, sister Kay, his cherished children Louise and Julie, and his grandchildren.
Louie's life was a testament to strength, hard work and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will continue to impact generations to come.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12th, at the Greens Lake Chapel, located at 1120 W Greens Lake Dr, Cedar City, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing preceding the service at 10:00 AM.
