Lowree Jackson, born on December 7, 1948 in Greenwood, Mississippi, passed away on July 2, 2025. A humble and resilient soul, Lowree was a beacon of strength and reliability to all who knew her. She carried her joyous spirit and witty humor throughout her life, bringing light and laughter to many.
Lowree resided in Austin, Texas, where she relished in the simple pleasures of life. A lover of music, she found solace in melodies that danced through her home. Lowree had a knack for word searches, often losing herself in the intricate puzzle of letters. She also enjoyed the thrill of scratching lottery tickets, always hopeful for a win. As Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," and Lowree embodied this spirit of adventure in her own modest way.
What mattered most to Lowree were her two daughters, Juanita and Margo Jackson. Although she never married, she was a devoted mother who cherished the love and companionship of her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Carrie Jackson. And she leave behind her 4 sisters Evone Jackson,Velma Conner,Fannie Web, Cora Lee Jackson and 2 brother Jimmy Lee Jackson, Jr Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." Lowree's resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to this sentiment, and her legacy lives on through her daughters.
A public visitation for Lowree will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 am CDT at Alice Taylor King Chapel, 1300 East 12th Street, Austin, Texas. The Celebration of Life will follow at the same location at 12:00 pm CDT. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road, Austin, Texas at 2:30 pm CDT.
