Loyd R. Burton, 87, of Colchester, IL passed away at 4:15 am Wednesday June 11, 2025 at the home of his daughter Penny in Camdenton, MO.
He was born on March 18, 1938 in Plymouth, IL to Charles and Maida Roudebush Burton. He was united in marriage to Esther Jean Andrews on November 27, 1970 in Macomb, IL and they spent 52 wonderful and glorious years together before her passing on July 3, 2023.
Loyd was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He had been employed as a school bus driver, machine operator at Haeger Pottery in Macomb, IL and Housekeeping Supervisor at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL. Loyd enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter; Penny (Tommy) Parks of Lake Ozarks, MO, 3 grandchildren, Colleen (Dan) Dieken of Clinton, IL, Austin (Erin) Montgomery of Champaign, IL and Megan (Dan Hoenig) Conover of Montrose, IA, 5 great-grandchildren, Brody, Tyler, Jackson and Wyatt Peck and Sofia Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sons; Myron Mason and Charles Burton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday June 16, 2025 at Rosemont cemetery in Plymouth, IL. There will be no visitation but friends are welcome to attend the graveside service.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
