Luanne Renee Smith was born on March 6, 1959, in Boone, Iowa, to Billy D. and Mary Helen Rea Smith. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1977. On September 13, 1997, Luanne was united in marriage with Tom Tanner at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Throughout her career, she shared her passion for dance as an instructor at Mary Helen’s School of Dance, worked with Webster City schools, and dedicated the last 15 years as a real estate agent for Abens Realty.

Luanne is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Tom; her son, Jordan (Madison Brincks) Tanner of Stratford; her brothers, Curt (Sharon) Smith of Webster City and Billy Todd Smith of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Lanette Smith of Webster City; along with several nieces and nephews, including Jay (Jenna) Smith, Jennifer (Nate) Hay, Janae (Nick) Carter, Cody (Sam) Smith, Sierra (Wyatt) Opperman, Jake Smith, and Courtni Fredricksen; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and Tom’s siblings, Ron (Sharon) Tanner, Barb Tanner, Bill (Cindy) Tanner, and Chris (Stephanie) Tanner.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Michael “Chubby” Smith; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Vernice Tanner; and her sister-in-law, Judy Tanner.

Luanne was an active member of her community, particularly with St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she served on the church council and various committees. She cherished her time spent boating in Okoboji, and enjoyed the company of her great-nieces and great-nephews, and was a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Webster City Lynx.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be left to the family for distribution to Luanne's favorite charities.
