She was born on December 15, 1936, in Eden, Texas to Frank Reyes and Reynalda Luera Reyes. In Eden, she met the love of her life, Julian Gomez Lopez. The two were married on July 20, 1953, and spent 68 beautiful years together, before his passing in 2021. The majority of their married life was spent in and around Ralls, Texas, where they had and raised their four children. The two built a home rooted in love, tradition, and faith. Lucia was a devoted wife and homemaker for many years, but later worked for Ralls ISD as a cafeteria worker. She and Julian relocated to Idalou and she retired in 2004.Lucia was a woman of deep family values, known for her home-cooked meals, her open-door hospitality, and her no-nonsense wisdom. Her kitchen was the gathering place, her table always full, and no one ever left hungry - in body or in spirit.
Lucia is survived by her four children: Belinda Rubio of Waco, TX, George Lopez, Diana Flores and husband Carlos Flores, and Julian Lopez Jr. all of Idalou, TX. She was blessed with seven grandchildren; Stephen Camargo, Monica Salazar, Erica Boesch, Jessica Martinez, Adrian Flores, Lorissa Lopez and Adriel Jay Lopez plus 16 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Julian Lopez, her parents, Frank and Reynalda Reyes, brothers; Joe Reyes, Genaro Reyes, Johnny Reyes, Frank Reyes and sister, Adela Robles.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in knowing she's been reunited with her beloved Julian. We also know she is at rest and in the loving arms of her Lord.
All who knew and loved Lucia are invited to join us in honoring her beautiful life and legacy.
